Do: My Night with Lauren Graham

Last Thursday night, my friend Kayda and I went to Lauren Graham’s book signing for her new novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe. She was signing at the Barnes and Noble store in Union Square. Being a huge Gilmore Girls fan growing up, I naturally had to attend this book signing. The show had a huge impact on my teenage years, and to this day, I still dream of having blue eyes. The book, Someday, Someday, Maybe looks really good, and I am excited to start it soon. I will keep you all posted when I finish it!

Splurge vs. Steal

Boots are all the rage this fall. They are so helpful in keeping your feet warm from the snow, ice, and wind. Boots are super comfortable, and they are acceptable to wear in most work places. For today’s post, I have found three types of boots that are must haves for this fall. You can either splurge on a pair of boots, or you can get them for a steal! It all depends on your monthly or seasonal budget.

First, I found two great pairs of tall black wedges. I just love wearing wedge boots because they are not only comfortable, but they look great with jeans tucked in, or they look great with dresses and skirts with tights. They can be casual or dressy.

Splurge- Rick Owens for $1,895 at Saks

Steal- Lucky Brand for $219

I love lace up ankle boots. They are great for casual work days and running errands on the weekend. I love them with rolled up jeans and a simple tee with a sweater or with a girly dress and a jean jacket.

Splurge- Diesel for $320 at Ssense

Steal- Old Navy for $25

This fall and winter, you are going to need a great pair of rain boots. Not only are they essential for those rainy days, but they are perfect for walking in sloshy and slippery snow. When it gets super cold outside, buy some rain boot socks to keep your feel extra warm.

Splurge- Givenchy for $280 at Kima Zabete

Steal- Chooka for $89 at Dillards

Taste the Leather

Last Friday was the first official day of fall! Ahh, my favorite season is finally here. It is now time to put the shorts in the back of the closet and pull out the cashmere sweaters and turtlenecks. What is my favorite item for this fall? Well, it would have to be the leather jacket. When I went to Italy about 5 summers ago, my mom and dad forced my sister and I to go to this leather jacket shop with them. The last thing we ever wanted to do in 105 degree weather was try on multiple leather jackets. We endured the pain of trying them on, and we each ended up walking away from the store with a brand new leather jacket handcrafted with real lamb’s leather. I got this fabulous white motorcycle jacket with just enough toughness to it that it goes perfectly with a feminine dress (and it fits me to a tee!). My sister got a basic black leather jacket, but it is totally chic and just her style. These jackets are gorgeous, and I absolutely love wearing mine in the colder months. To add extra warmth, I just wear a cashmere sweater over my top but underneath the jacket.

Now, leather is more popular than ever, and I have found some amazing jackets in all shapes, sizes, and colors.

1. This cream faux-leather jacket is a great inexpensive version of the jacket I have purchased. It is $24.50 from, and it is surely a safe bet to get you through until you can afford a real one.

2. If you are looking for a more feminine yet funky leather jacket, then check out this one by BB Dakota. This is the perfect jacket to to with skirts and dresses. It is actually very reasonable for $238 at

3. For a tougher vibe that it totally chic, I found this one from It is pretty similar to the one I own, but mine is white and it has one pocket on both sides of the chest. It is $249 for the ultimate good-girl/bad-girl look.

4. This leather jacket by Rachel Zoe is the perfect jacket to go with jeans. It is the perfect shape for a more casual, yet sophisticated look. It is $695 at

5. Oh how I love this two-tone biker jacket with the shearling collar. Man, it is stunning! I can’t get enough if this Tibi jacket. It is $1,450 at

Zara Extravaganza

Zara is one of my absolute favorite stores. I remember the first time I ever went to a Zara. When I was in 17, my family and I went to Italy. We were in Florence, and my cousin Carlie, introduced this fabulous store to me. It was love at first sight. The fashions are incredible, and the prices are actually decent. I have found some of my favorite pieces in my closet from the Zara Stores, including my black peacoat for winter (I’ve had it for about 3 years already!). And now I love the store even more because yesterday (Wednesday), they now sell their products ONLINE! There is a Fashion God (in case you were wondering), and he has answered our prayers. Now, I have selected a few pieces that I absolutely love. The pieces shown above are just classic and perfect for this fall. I want them all! The best part is that you pair the items with each other as well as other pieces in your own closet. Zara has the perfect basic pieces you need at an affordable prices. They are very well made too. Feel free to check out the website yourself. Here it is:

Inspector Snew’s Beauty Must Haves

Want to know what my go-to beauty items are? Well…here they are.

1. I have naturally curly hair and this summer, I have been letting my hair go natural. I use this mousse by TRESemme, and I love it! I can’t believe it discovered it when I was 22 (it sure would have saved me through junior and high school). It can be found at any grocery store or drugstore for about $4.35.

2. I will tell you a little secret. I don’t wear lipstick or colored lip gloss. Instead, I use Smith’s Rosebud Salve. It used to come in a small blue tin, but now I love this squeezable tube. It keeps my lips shiny without the stickiness. You can get the lip gloss at Sephora for $6.

3. I use this eye cream right when I wake up (before I apply makeup) and before I go to bed. It reduces the appearance of puffiness, fine lines, and dark circles under the eyes. It is so light and airy. It is $29 at or at any department store where Clinique is sold.

4. For the days I skip washing my hair, I use this dry shampoo by TRESemme. It removes unwanted oil from your hair. It can be found at any drugstore or grocery store for around $5.50.

5. I received this solid perfume stick as a gift, and I love it. The scent is sweet, but very light. I don’t like strong perfume, so this is perfect. It is also easy to carry around. The solid perfume stick is $10 at Anthropol0gie.

6. This body powder by Prada smells so great. I also got this as a gift. I feel so feminine putting on this powder every morning. The powder is $62 at Neiman Marcus.

7. If I ever get a blemish, I use Clean and Clear  Persa-gel 10. It is a fast acting treatment that clears every pimple. I always carry it in my makeup bag. It can be found at any drugstore or grocery store for around $6.49.

8. Instead of using body lotion, I use body oil. My favorite is Neutrogena’s body oil with sesame seeds. It is so much lighter than lotion, and the scent is not as strong. A big bottle of oil can be found at any grocery store or drugstore for $15.99.
